Homestead Tax Exemption

Remember for those who bought a home this year, don’t forget to fill out the application for your homestead exemption. You have from January 1 to April 30 (of the year for which the exemption is requested) to fill out and submit to the county. You can do it online or at appraisal district office in your county. Remember that you must change the address of your driver’s licenses for the current residence before you start the process. Attached is a link for each county so you can access and download the form. All homestead applications must be accompanied by a copy of applicant's driver’s license or other information as required by the Texas Property Tax Code. Applicant may also be required to complete an affidavit to qualify for an exemption under certain situations.
